Hij gehoorzaamde zijn Vader altijd, en daar mogen wij ook naar streven (Johannes 8:29; 15:10). Wij nemen Jezus aan als de Heer over ons leven <em>(Romeinen 10:9; 1 Korinti\u00ebrs 12:3; 2 Korinti\u00ebrs 4:5)<\/em>. Elke beslissing en droom wordt dan gefilterd door zijn Woord met het doel om Hem in alle dingen groot te maken <em>(1 Korinti\u00ebrs 10:31)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>We worden niet gered door de dingen die we voor Christus doen <em>(Efezi\u00ebrs 2:8-9),<\/em> maar door wat Hij voor ons heeft gedaan. Belangrijk is dat we de Heilige Geest de volledige controle geven over elk aspect van ons leven <em>(Efezi\u00ebrs 5:18)<\/em>. Want wie zijn leven wil behouden, die zal het verliezen; maar wie zijn leven verliezen zal omwille van Mij, die zal het behouden. <em>(Lukas 9:23-24)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Als je besluit om Jezus te volgen, dan moet je drie dingen doen:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Jezelf verloochenen.<\/li>\n<li>Dagelijks Zijn kruis opnemen.<\/li>\n<li>Jezus volgen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Jezus noemt geen alternatieve mogelijkheden. De derde stap, het feitelijk volgen van Jezus, is onmogelijk, totdat we de eerste twee stappen hebben gedaan, onszelf dagelijks verloochenen en ons kruis opnemen. Wat betekent het eigenlijk, om &#8216;jezelf te verloochenen&#8217;? Jezelf verloochenen betekent nee zeggen tegen jezelf. En als je hem dan eens openslaat, waar begin je dan? Maar gelukkig hoeven wij de Bijbel niet alleen te lezen, Jezus heeft de Heilige Geest als \u2018vertaler\u2019 gestuurd. De Heilige Geest maakt zijn thuis in ons hart.<\/p>\n<p>De Heilige Geest als vertaler <em>\u2018Want wat een mens over God kan weten is hun bekend omdat God het aan hen kenbaar heeft gemaakt.\u2019 (Romeinen 1:19).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Lees Romeinen 1, neem vooraf een moment om te bidden en vraag de Heilige Geest om de woorden die je leest uit te leggen en je te helpen om wat je leest in de bijbel ook te begrijpen en te laten landen in je hart.<\/p>\n<p>Misschien doe je dit altijd al, misschien niet. Doe dit elke keer wanneer je een overdenking leest of de Bijbel openslaat.
