“On the first day of each week each of you should set aside something for yourself, saving whatever you can, so that collections are not taken on that day.” (1 Corinthians 16:2)
We may always give what we can, that is, "according to our ability." Sometimes this means more than a tithe, sometimes it means less. It all depends on the individual's ability and the needs of the church. Each individual Christian must pray diligently and seek God's wisdom to determine whether they can participate in tithing and/or how much they can give (James 1:5). “Each one should give just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)
